IMSLP - International Music Score Library Project

The goal is to create a virtual library containing all public domain music scores, as well as scores from composers who are willing to share their music with the world without charge.


The Mutopia Project offers sheet music editions of classical music for free download. These are based on editions in the public domain, and include works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Handel, Mozart, and many others.

Classical Sheet Music Library

Besides works of famous composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schumann, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, this music library also contains some compositions of lesser known composers e.g. Planquette or Masse.


Musopen is an online music library of copyright free (public domain) music. We aim to record or obtain recordings that have no copyrights so that our visitors may listen, re-use, or in any way enjoy music. Put simply, our mission is to set music free.

Wikipedia contains information entered by the public, and edited hopefully by those in-the-know. The terminology section is useful, along with the list of classical composers.


LilyPond is a music engraving program, devoted to producing the highest-quality sheet music possible. It brings the aesthetics of traditionally engraved music to computer printouts. LilyPond is free software and part of the GNU Project. LilyPond scores can be found on Mutopia.
